Crescent Womb is made with only the highest quality materials possible to ensure the safety of our little customers. Our fabrics are non-toxic, naturally flame retardant, hypoallergenic, durable AND machine washable! The Crescent Womb is composed of a strong double outer-layer of ripstop nylon and a cloud-like medical-grade permeated mesh center air-flow tested for a 100% breathability. These quality fabrics are triple-stiched for safety then secure to your crib or frame using military-grade nylon straps, buckles and ripcord safety loops around each buckle for added protection. Crescent Womb was designed by Dad, made with love and a focus on safe sleep. Safety, functionality, durability, and versatility are the key ingredients behind the seams at Crescent. Womb.
Yes! Our fabrics are non-toxic, naturally flame retardant, hypoallergenic, durable AND machine washable! Toss your Crescent Womb in the washing machine on cold and tumble dry in a garment bag on low heat. For small spills and stains to the exterior fabric ( colored portion of your Crescent Womb ) simply spot clean using your preferred method.
Totally up to you! We recommend tossing your crescent womb in the wash every 2-5 uses. Wash it every day if you’ve got a messy little one or wash it once a week if you’re using us only right after bath time.
Our fabric is a nylon fiber that is NATURALLY flame-retardant and safe for babies. Off-gassing from flame retardant chemicals in other products has been linked to sleep hazards. We don’t think you should have to sacrifice safety features for another. Crescent Womb's materials are fully tested to CPSC standards as well as prop 65 regulations.
The Crescent Womb uses materials that are naturally moisture-wicking allowing you to quickly wipe up small spills no problem. We recommend using a few drops of your preferred laundry spot/stain cleaner on a warm damp washcloth to easily remove stains and for bigger messes or routine cleanings simply toss in the wash cold and tumble dry in a garment bag on low heat.
Believe it or not, babies are oily! Especially their little scalps. Our lightweight permeated mesh material that supports your little one acts as a second skin or cocoon similar to swaddling. A unique mesh cradle is created depending on your babies, weight, shape, and position. This mesh cradle will adjust and grow with your little one naturally never losing strength in the elasticity of the fabric ( and that’s why we use medical-grade permeated mesh) Inherently baby's head typically will stay in relatively the same spot for the products lifecycle. The mesh cradles headrest portion of the fabric typically absorbs more of oils from the baby’s head and this build-up has sometimes resulted in permanent discoloring around the area.
To avoid an oil build-up and permanent staining, simply use our recommended washing guidelines based on usage. Let's face it being a parent is a lot of work and a lot of it is messy, not to mention exhausting. You don’t need any extra-care complications with the products designed to simplify your caretaking. Safety is and always will be the primary focus of our company. However, function & quality are a close second. That's why we use the highest quality ripstop nylon, not only is it the strongest and most durable fabric, it's easy to clean!
Yes. Crescent Womb is made from materials that avoid allergic reactions in infants.
Crescent Womb itself is 21 inches wide x 43 inches long, but each strap adds an additional 14 inches of adjustable length to accommodate larger cribs.
Crescent Womb is recommended for infants aged 0 - 6 months and designed to ease the transition from the womb to the world. Crescent Womb can be used until your baby begins voluntarily sitting up (usually around 25lbs)
Some parents swaddle with Crescent Womb but most choose not to. Crescent Womb’s unique design offers a similar, if not improved, sense of security to infants. That's one of our main benefits since the AAP recommends not adding ANY extra fabric or material to the sleep environment. Use your discretion when swaddling or using blankets and always use safe swaddling techniques, regardless of if you use Crescent Womb or not.
Loosen straps on all four sides and attach them to the four corners on your child’s crib. Once attached, secure safety strap, pull excess strapping through safety loop and secure over the male end of the buckle. Tighten straps until Crescent Womb is TAUT. Be sure straps are pulled tight, but even, from all four corners. There should be NO SLACK. Wrap the excess strapping around the crib rail and use the Velcro ends to self-adhere (this safety precaution will prevent children or pets from tampering with the product). Once all straps are installed correctly- place infant on back, in center of Crescent Womb, as shown in the figure on safety info.
Infants should be placed in the center of the inner mesh, both vertically and horizontally. This will further promote even weight distribution and give the baby a comforting sense of enclosure, similar to swaddling.
Crescent Womb should only be attached to a certified infant crib. It can also be used with the Crescent Wombâ„¢ frame. Always make sure that the attachment structure is on a flat, firm surface.
No. Back only. For maximum sleep safety, doctors now believe that infants should sleep on their backs
No. Medical experts recommend against using a blanket inside a crib with a sleeping child under the age of one.
Folding up to the size of the average baby blanket and weighing about the same, Crescent Womb® is perfect for new family travel. Being able to travel with your Crescent Womb means that your baby will have a consistent sleeping pattern, regardless of where your travels take you.

Thank you for reaching out to us! The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that a baby should only be placed on their back to sleep or rest until they are one year of age in order to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and suffocation. Pediatricians advise that once a baby is capable of rolling over from back to stomach, the baby can be allowed to remain in the sleep position baby assumes. As always, we recommend you also check with your pediatrician about the best way to put your baby to sleep. Crescent Womb is safe for tummy sleepers!
YES! The Crescent Womb safety bed (or net as we like to say) center is made with 100% breathable permeated medical-grade mesh. The Crescent Womb is tested for air-permeability, to ensure the fabric and materials used will not harbor heat. Our infant safety bed passed with a perfect score. Crescent Womb is the first and only baby bed to create a sleeping environment providing infants with 360 degrees of unrestricted airflow.
Your baby should only be placed on his or her back in the Crescent Womb. However, if your baby rolls to their side or tummy after being placed in the Crescent Womb, rest easy knowing our infant safety beds 100% breathable mesh center allows for tummy and side sleepers to breathe directly through the material with no risk of suffocation or overheating. Babies who sleep on their tummies have an increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. For this reason, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends babies only be placed to sleep on their backs for their first year of life. Also, there should be no blankets or pillows under or over the baby. Plush objects like blankets and pillows are associated with infant suffocation. Pediatricians advise that once a baby is capable of rolling over from back to stomach, and from the stomach to back, the infant can be allowed to remain in the sleep position baby assumes.
Nothing is more important to the Crescent team than the safety of our little customers. As no one knows your child better than you and your doctor, we believe you should consult your pediatrician about your sleep arrangements. The American Academy of Pediatrics has determined that the safest place for a baby to sleep during the first year of life is in a crib, bassinet or play yard in the parents' bedroom.
We have worked hard to create a product that provides a safe and secure place for your baby while they sleep. We are fully compliant with the CPSC and US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). Your peace of mind is extremely important to us and we want you to feel confident about using your Crescent Womb® All components tested above and beyond global standards for, and proven free from, harmful substances. All of our testing facilities are federally recognized and have A2LA accreditation. In addition to federally required compliance testing, we have engaged in focus groups with countless moms and medical professionals throughout our product development. Prior to being released to the public Crescent Womb has also been field-tested by parents and babies.
The causes of SIDS remain unclear and are still being researched. Experts believe SIDS may be related to low-level toxins found in some nurseries, but there is no definitive research to support this claim. In 2008, a medical research study from UC Berkeley indicated that ventilation in a nursery may significantly reduce the occurrence of SIDS. As SIDS may be related both to overheating and accidental asphyxiation, Crescent Womb is committed to maximizing natural airflow and breathability throughout the product line.
Short answer: Nothing. According to the guidelines for infant safe sleep as established in 2011 by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Crescent Womb creates a safe and comfortable space for your baby without having to add any additional items to the sleeping environment. Additionally, Crescent Womb recommends that parents and caregivers routinely examine the crib for any other extraneous or loose items that could present a safety hazard.
